Café photography in Melbourne — the morning-light playbook

Brunch hero plates, latte art, venue ambient — how to shoot a Melbourne café the way Melbourne cafés should be shot.

Café photography in Melbourne — the morning-light playbook

[ 01 ]

Why morning light wins

Melbourne cafés are at their best between 7am and 11am. Soft, directional natural light, no service pressure, fresh plates. Every café shoot we do is in this window unless the venue physically doesn't have natural light.

The 3-block café shoot

Block 1 — brunch hero plates. 6–10 dishes in 90 minutes, natural light.

Block 2 — latte art and coffee. Separate 30-minute setup with a barista on-call.

Block 3 — venue ambient. Interior, exterior, counter, pastry case. 30–45 minutes.
